As a parent, all we want is to help our children, this book helps us as parents through the "how?". It reminded me that just being there, loving them, and believing them is enough. LOVED this book!!!! It is so needed. I can’t even begin to count the patients I have seen just in the year I have been a Pediatric FNP who struggle with suicidal ideation and all from some sort of abuse that occurred as a child. This is a wonderful way to educate our children and break cycles of trauma that result from unsafe touching!!!!

Reading the ABC’s of It happened to me made me realize that i still have some healing to do, it also teaches you to be kind and patient with yourself. Such a tough topic but very valuable for any child or parent that have to unfortunately recover from an unsafe touch/act. This book could help your family to navigate through such a traumatic experience. I really like that it’s a parent read along and allows for the child to express their feelings as they go through each page, and it keeps the parent engaged and coaches them to offer support in those moments. I almost snapped my fingers (in a good way) when I read the “how to use this book” section because the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. And I love that it includes a safety plan guide and questions at the end to keep the conversation going.

The book covers wide range of emotions and feelings, I’m really glad to see isolation in there since that’s a big symptom. I also really like that the book reinforces that the child is not alone in this. I think the act in having the book and reading it in the first place shows that the parent cares about what their child is going through ❤️ if I were the child and this book was read to me, I would feel very supported and loved, and closer to my parent by the end of it. - Wife.
